Solutions for Cost Reduction Business Continuity - Seminar Highlights
On June 7, 2012, "KVH Solution Seminar in Osaka" was held at Hotel New Hankyu Osaka in Osaka City. We invited a guest speaker from K.K. Ashisuto, a provider of multi-vendor packaged software services, who introduced a variety of solutions that aim to reduce TCO and improve business efficiency. Over 60 customers participated in the seminar.
The seminar composed of the following three sessions:
Special Lecture - K.K. Ashisuto: Mr. Tokuhara, Manager of the Database Technology Department of K.K. Ashisuto West Japan Branch, introduced Postgres Plus Advanced Server, an advanced user-friendly database that uses PostgreSQL. He explained the capabilities of Open Source databases, and compared the functions of PostgreSQL and Postgres Plus Advanced Server with the Oracle database and the key points involved in migration from an Oracle database. Mr. Tokuhara shared his insights on the effectiveness of using Open Source and cloud environments for building an IT platform at minimum cost and risk.
Cloud Session - In this session, we introduced the newly released KVH private cloud service and KVH WebScan. KVH private cloud is catered to customers that require a highly secure and customized cloud environment, and cannot reach this standard with a public cloud service. KVH WebScan is a web application penetration testing service, and was introduced as a service that provides automated vulnerability tests that leverage the latest tools, combined with manual inspection by security experts. The services involves generating highly accurate reports with extremely low false positive detection rates.
We also introduced the services of Scientia Corporation and Upplan Co., Ltd. which won gold and silver awards respectively at the KVH Application Development Contest. Mr. Miyakoshi, Head of Scientia Corporation's Tokyo branch, presented on "Smart Company", a cloud-based high functionality human resource management system. Mr. Abe, President of Upplan Co., Ltd., presented their "WinView" service, which leverages a cloud environment to enable integrated management between various terminals.
Global Session: This session introduced KVH's data centers and global network services across Asia. We explained the proximity hosting service at Busan data center (Korea) as well as data center services in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. KVH's global network services are expanding with the extension of our own network to Hong Kong, Singapore, and other markets. In addition, we are trying to enhance alternatives for customers by working in coorporation with the partner companies.
