KVH to Offer Virtual Desktop Solution

Vdi-offering
KVH has recently added a VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure) solution to its services roadmap, which will enable companies to virtualize their data and mobilize their staff. With VDI, employees can access and conduct their work from anywhere, at anytime.

How is VDI Used?

Desktop Security Enhancement: Enables heightened desktop security measures as files remain within the hosted environment and cannot be saved locally
Remote Access Solution: Gives employees the flexibility of access from anywhere using any device
Seamless Vendor Management: Provides IT infrastructure connectivity to outsourced vendors for streamlined communication and operations
Business Continuity Planning/Disaster Recovery: Delivers faster, more effective data recovery and protection via remote access and control
IT Consumerization: Supports the upcoming BYOD (bring your own device) age in a secure and flexible manner

How is VDI Deployed Across a Company?

VDI, also commonly known as HVD (hosted virtual desktops) or DaaS (desktop-as-a-service), is already on the technology roadmap for 89% of IT executives, according to a recent report by IDG Research, though there is still much confusion around how this solution can be implemented successfully or effectively be integrated into a broader mobility strategy.

Deployment of VDI across a company’s range of desktops involves a 3-step process. The first step is a series of thorough technical assessments to complete the feasibility study, followed by a “pilot” period when the systems are tested by selected users, then finally the system is rolled our across the organization. This entire process can take three to six months to complete.

What Will Differentiate KVH’s Service?

Your Window to Japan and Asia-Pacific: KVH is a trusted partner for Japanese and international companies for business in Asia-Pacific. With businesses facing the complexities of understanding and managing the latency of regional networks, and the common misunderstandings around pricing, including the impact of Microsoft licensing costs, having a reliable and locally based service provider is critical.

Total Solution, One Vendor: KVH will offer a one-stop solution for VDI and, as is customary with all services, will deliver a complete bilingual service in English and Japanese. This includes in-house engineers and product managers, providing a total solution, from desktop environment assessment, to implementation, migration, and on-going support.

Security Proven in the Financial Industry: With security as a major concern among businesses, particularly within the financial services industry, KVH’s data centers and networks adhere to the highest security standards and are monitored 24x7 to keep customers’ data safe and protected from potential security threats at all times. Experienced security experts can also ensure a solution is tailored to meet your specific business needs.

Flexibility and Scalability: Purchasing and managing the ideal amount of IT infrastructure for your business can be difficult to forecast and, if wrongly estimated, very expensive and inefficient. Particularly for a VDI solution, for which demand can significantly fluctuate on a day-to-day basis, adopting a scalable server environment will allow you to only pay for IT infrastructure that is actually needed and used as required. For example, media companies that handle high-res images and videos can leverage VDI for storage and ease of access, with the flexibility to use as much or little space as they need while project demand fluctuates.

Value-add: Beyond the VDI solution, KVH offers its global low-latency network, highly secure data centers, and international Points of Presence (PoPs), enabling businesses to store and access their data from almost anywhere in the world at high speeds. Consequently, even high-frequency traders and time-sensitive workers will be able to leverage the flexibility that VDI offers.
